Rajnikanth Profile
Rajinikanth is an Indian film actor and media personality. He received India’s third highest honour, the Padma Bhushan, for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Born to a poor Maratha family living in Karnataka, he took up different jobs in Bangalore, even worked as a bus conductor, before entering the film industry. He started his career in films by doing villainous roles, before graduating to being the main protagonist.
The superstar of Tamil cinema Rajnikanth was born Maratha family living in Karnataka. He was the fourth child to his parents Ramojirao Gaekwad (father) and Jijabai (mother),
Rajnikanth is one of the few actors from South India who have entered Bollywood and achieved considerable success there. His debut in Hindi Film Industry came in the form of “Andha Kanoon” (1983).

Rajnikanth tied the knot with Latha on February 26, 1981. The couple has two daughters – Aishwarya and Saundarya. The elder daughter – Aishwarya is married to Tamil actor Dhanush. The younger one, Saundarya is a graphic designer and also works as a film director and producer. She has worked with her father in a number of Tamil films, including ‘Sivaji – The Boss’ and ‘Chandramukhi’. Rajnikanth’s wife is currently running a school named ‘The Ashram’, in Chennai.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011Shivaji Rao Gaekwad (born on 12 December 1949),professionally known by his stage name Rajinikanth is the highest paid Indian film actor and a prominent media personality.He is best known for his mass popularity and appeal, largely drawn from his mannerisms and stylized delivery of dialogue in films. He received India’s third highest honour, the Padma Bhushan, in 2000 for his contribution to Indian cinema.Other than acting, Rajinikanth worked as a screenwriter, film producer, and also a playback singer. Apart from his film career, he is a philanthropist and serves as an influence in the politics of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Rajinikanth made his debut as an actor in Apoorva Raagangal (1975), directed by Kailasam Balachander, whom the actor considers as his mentor. He was later favoured in Tamil cinema for portraying antagonistic characters and gradually rose to acting in lead roles. Rajinikanth Next Film Raana with K.S.Ravikumar

Yet again, Rajinikanth will play three roles in his next project ‘Raana’, which brings the Rajinikanth-director K.S.Ravikumar-composer A.R. Rahman combination together after nearly a decade.
For most fans of ‘superstar’ Rajinikanth, the films ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padaiyappa’ made by this combination will invariably figure in the list of all-time favourites. The films came with the stamp of a thorough entertainer with liberal doses of humour and music that made waves.
Though talk of the possible release date of what was originally ‘Sultan the Warrior’ kept surfacing in Kollywood every now and then, each time with a new name for the much talked-about animation film, it will possibly follow ‘Raana’, sources say.
A few months ago, news about ‘Sultan the Warrior’ being readied for release in the name ‘Hara’ started doing the rounds. Some believed that K.S. Ravikumar would direct select portions of the film.
However, news about ‘Raana’ has now rendered all those talk futile.
Sources also say that ‘Raana’ will be produced by the actor’s wife Lata Rajinikanth, for Ocher Studios. The full length feature film, will have Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone playing the female lead.
Rajinikanth is also roping in cinematographer Rathnavelu, who worked with him in ‘Enthiran’.
Rajeevan is the art director. Director K.S. Ravikumar whose collaboration with Rajinikanth set new records at the box office, had been working with Kamal Haasan in the last few years, bringing out films such as the hilarious ‘Panchatantiram’, ‘Dasavatharam’ and the more recent, ‘Manmadan Ambu’.
The director, known for his screenplay, intelligent humour and his cameo roles, can be expected to come up with a complete entertainer that would appeal to both rural and urban audiences, say industry sources.
